Puppy Love Ch. 06

A gay story: Puppy Love Ch. 06 Chapter 6 of 6

thank you all who stuck with this story, I hope you enjoyed it. I love reading any and all comments.

TUESDAY ONE WEEK LATER

It was about a week since Jack learned about Lily Kelly and his mind was working on ways to shift focus from ‘wholesome young female’ author to ‘refreshing young, gay male’ author. What if he shook up the story a little? What if he prepared a cover of ‘Puppy Love’ that Dove would jump at giving Luke credit for? He wasn’t going to mention it until he knew if he could deliver.

It was Tuesday and the shelter had closed for the evening. Jack and Luke brought the dogs, introducing them to the teens for the shoot. Chloe was eighteen, girl next door type. Lance was a ruggedly built, handsome, blonde eighteen year old. He wore jeans and a varsity jacket and lastly Tyler, a seventeen year old who appeared to be the opposite of Lance. Tyler was slim with short curly brown hair. He wore skinny jeans with holes in the knees. They were booked for only a few hours, so the shoot had to be organized and executed quickly.

“Ok, thanks for being here” he addressed the models, Rita from the shelter – who Jack and Luke had met previously – and Reve. “This is what I need to get accomplished” Jack explained “Chloe & Lance, I need shots in various poses. Dogs at your feet… in front of you, next to you. Theo belongs to me and Olive belongs to Luke… they’re both very nice and calm.” Jack turned to Reve “I’d like Chloe and Lance to be photographed as a couple. I’d also like those same series of shots with Tyler swapped in for Chloe, having Tyler & Lance posed as a couple.” Jack looked at everyone “any questions?”

Reve turned to Jack “are you sure you know what you’re doing? This isn’t what the story calls for.”

Jack’s eyes swiveled to Luke and then back to Reve “not yet it doesn’t.”

Reve staged the teens using the variety of poses. In two hours all the pics had been taken. Jack did a once over with Reve – checking to see if there was anything else he needed or any shots he’d like repeated, and that was all. Quick, painless and perfect.

“Are you up for a late dinner?” Jack asked Luke.

“Yep” his answer short and a little curt “how about the German place where we can bring the dogs?”

“Perfect” Jack replied “let’s help Reve break down the lighting and pack her truck. Shouldn’t take long, she really didn’t have to set up that much for this small shoot.”

“Let’s invite her along for dinner?” Luke asked.

“Actually, I’d really rather have you to myself.” Jack smiled.

“That’s probably wise.”

Jack stood at Reve’s truck giving additional ‘thank yous and goodbyes’ again. Luke got the dogs in the back seat of the car while he rode shotgun. The shoot was quick and Luke felt exhilarated… as if he participated in any way whatsoever. He was excited to see the last of his book coming together.

Jack drove the short distance from the shelter to Dunderbak’s. The restaurant was busy, so they stood outside for a table on the patio. While they waited, Luke asked Jack about the photo shoot.

“So, do you want to tell me what that little switch was about?” Luke asked Jack, a slight bite in his tone.

“I just had an idea, that’s all. I wanted to take advantage of it while we had the time and the models.”

Luke focused his eyes into Jack’s “I know what you’re doing. You want the book changed to two male leads. You want the girl ditched. Am I right?”

Jack played naive “would that be so bad? Male/male romance books are hot right now. Television shows too. Why not take advantage of it?”

“Because that’s not the book I wrote. That’s not the book I sold. That’s not the book they wanted. Not to mention we’re about two weeks out of publication and you want me to rewrite the story now?” The irritation in Luke’s voice was obvious. Jack had crossed a line “I’m in second round rewrites now… that’d basically push the book back almost to square one. I could destroy any chance of it ever being published, not to mention a future with Dove.”

Jack looked down at his shoes. Luke was right. He couldn’t just take it upon himself to change everything.

“I already went against Bob when I tossed out a new title, now I’m supposed to what – just present a totally new concept too?”

“You’re right. You’re right. I’m sorry. I should have discussed any ideas with you first. This is your book and your future” Jack reached for Luke’s hand “I’m very sorry… none of this was mine to tamper with.”

Luke gave Jack’s hand a squeeze “I just need for you to understand what this all means for me. I’m finally able to settle down and this is where – and you’re who – I want to do it.”

Things were settled. Jack made his sincerest apologies to Luke and, thankfully, he accepted. So, why couldn’t he let this go? He felt Luke was being taken advantage of and didn’t, or didn’t want to, see it. If he explained his reason behind the change maybe he’d see things his way. Jack didn’t see any harm in mocking up an additional cover… he was sure Luke would thank him for it later.

In the morning, Luke lay there after the alarm sounded… just thinking. What if Jack was right? What if he could make this book something different? Something new and unique? He brushed the thoughts aside, reminding himself of the scolding he gave Jack yesterday – leave everything alone and focus on the security of a steady job and future.

Olive was waiting to go out and to be fed… and she was letting Luke know she wanted both right now. She paraded around the bedroom impatiently, nudging Luke with her nose or giving the occasional bark – c’mon, what’s taking so long. Get moving. Luke slid out of bed, rubbing Olive’s head and giving her pets down her back. She ran ahead of him down the stairs and turned the corner into the kitchen – racing to the back door and pacing in circles. Luke opened the back door and she rocketed down the deck steps into the yard. He prepared her breakfast – along with a little something for himself – and leaned back against the counter, mindlessly munching a Pop Tart. When she finished, Olive ran back to the door to eat… Luke’s signal to get ready for work.

A little something clicked in the back of his mind, Luke grabbed Olive’s bag and prepared for his walk to work – this morning with her in tow for the first time. He’d give it a chance, if nothing more than for the morning. If things went sideways he’d take her home.

He sent Jack a text.

Luke broke out into smiles

The thought of Jack for breakfast, or at least having breakfast with Jack, was enough for Luke and Olive to pick up their pace.

“Olive!” Jack playfully yelled as Luke led her over “are you bringing her to the office?”

Jack glanced down at her “Theo will be so upset he missed her today! Maybe we’ll take a quick walk to the house at lunch and bring him back for the afternoon.”

“I think she’d like that” Luke smiled.

They grabbed their orders and headed for work

“It was only two nights, but it felt so weird to wake up in my own bed this morning… alone.”

Jack smiled “awww, thank you. I missed you too. Maybe we need to have sleep overs more often.”

As they walked, Luke’s mind returned to Puppy Love. He wanted to let Jack know he was reconsidering his plan to change the book, but he still hadn’t convinced himself. If he couldn’t do that, how was he expected to change Bob’s mind, let alone Marketing – who was already planning a launch – and Editing, who’d have to review the book again. Instead, he continued to mull it over. He knew he didn’t have much longer to consider it. The longer he waited, the less of a chance he had… wheels were already in motion.

Jack and Luke stepped out of the elevator, each ready to head to the respective spaces, when Luke tugged on Jack’s arm.

“Come with me for a second” Luke whispered “I have something to show you.”

Jack gave a low chuckle “I don’t know what’s left for me to see… I know every inch of you.”

Luke’s eyes darted around the office, alarmed that someone might have heard “not that you jackass. Come to my desk” eventually smiling.

Leading Olive and Jack to his desk, Luke sat down on his chair, with Olive at his feet, and dug through a drawer filled with outlines for story ideas and books for research. “Here” he pulled out a book and handed it to Jack.

“The Grass Is Always Greener” he read off the cover “ok, so?”

“The author. Look at the author” Luke pointed out.

Jack gasped “Luke Larson! It’s you! You’re on the cover as author!”

Luke smiled as he watched Jack’s mind almost explode “This is what I was trying to explain to you. I don’t really care if I have to be Lily Kelly for a book or two. I’m already an established, published author in my own right. I can wait a year or two to if that means launching my own series.”

Jack went in for a hug, but Luke took a step back – obviously not secure enough for public displays of affection. Why would he be? He only recently admitted he was something other than one hundred percent straight.

“So, what’s this book about?” Jack asked as he skimmed through the pages.

“Two kids who grow up next to each other. Every day after school they hang out in the backyard and talk over the fence. Eventually they each move off to different colleges, leaving one another, until a chain of events bring them both back home and they reconnect as adults. It’s the same kind of romance I write now, only adult – much more adult.” Luke smiled a devilish grin. This time it was Jack’s turn to blush.

Jack nodded. He finally understood the point Luke was trying to make. He still just couldn’t shake this feeling that nagged in the back of his mind… Luke deserved more.

Jack returned to his desk and began his work on the concept. He mocked up the cover he was assigned, the one featuring the boy/girl couple. His design featured the models standing back to back,Chloe holding Olive, Theo at Lance’s feet. A heart floated over their heads making up the ‘O’ in the word Love. He was happy with the concept – it was one of his favorite designs. However, he figured while he had a template, why not just change the cover to his boy/boy idea? It didn’t take much to swap out Chloe for Tyler. Now Jack was torn. Luke had made it more than clear he didn’t want to rock the boat and make any more changes to the book, especially this late in the game. However, Jack thought, if he just saw the idea in front of him maybe he’d be tempted. This called for a distraction he hoped even Luke couldn’t turn down.

Around 11:00 Jack texted Luke

‘how’s olive doing?’

‘she’s laying here sleeping, and not hiding under the desk!’

‘in that case, do you want to walk home at lunch and bring theo back for the afternoon?’

‘yes! let me know when you’re ready to go’

Jack sent a dog emoji, followed up by ‘theo can’t wait.’

Luke sat at his desk, a ridiculously large grin plastered across his face. How can something as benign as a walk in the afternoon turn him into a smiling fool? Wait, that’s easy, it’s a walk with Jack. His face warmed as he continued smiling… no intention of stopping.

Jack texted Luke to meet him by the elevators at Noon… and right on time he showed, Olive right behind. Luke placed a brief kiss on Jack’s lips, a small gesture to let him know he was trying his best to live in their relationship.

“You don’t have to do that” Jack whispered “if you’re not ready.”

“I won’t know if I’m ready until I try, so…”

Jack reached down to give Olive a few scratches behind her ears “you know what Ollie, you have a great Daddy. Someone could fall in love with him really fast.” He smiled, pivoting his eyes up to meet Luke’s.

Luke blushed yet again.

“Showing me your book this morning got me thinking.”Jack stared straight ahead as they walked, finally just blurting out words, launching out fast and spilling in tumbles “Please don’t be angry with me, but I mocked up another cover for ‘Puppy Love’. I already had the original template on my desktop, so it took me just a few minutes to take out Chloe and add in Tyler. I know we talked about this, and you really didn’t want to, but I just wanted to show you how cute it could look.”

Luke stopped walking, forcing Jack to stop. Prepared for the barrage of anger from Luke, Jack was met with silence. “Talk to me, please” Jack whispered, pleading “I… I’m sorry. You said to leave it alone and I didn’t.”

“I hate that you went behind my back… especially after I told you to drop it” Luke was cold and stone faced. “All this shows is you don’t care about my feelings – or what I want.”

Jack dropped his head, reverting to his look-at-his-feet stance “I’m sorry Luke. I really am. I care about everything you say… everything you think. I care about you so fucking much” He lifted his head to meet his eyes “I think I’m in love with you.”

“You love me?” Luke reached out to take Jack’s hands “If you really do then you’ll respect me to make my own choices, Ok?” They stood on the sidewalk in the middle of the lunch time rush, pedestrians bumping into them as they blocked their paths. Luke wrapped his arms around Jack’s neck to pull him in for a kiss “and for what it’s worth” Luke sighed “I think I love you too.”

They silently walked to Jack’s house to retrieve Theo, not speaking until reaching the front porch.

“So, am I forgiven?” Jack asked meekly.

Luke smiled “just promise you’ll let me handle my career. No more surprises.”

“Well, I do have something else” Jack said embarrassed “but I did this before our talk. I’ll toss it out and we can pretend it never happened.”

Jack put his key in the front door and Theo came running, making a beeline past Jack to greet Olive. They ran together from the front door into the Kitchen and then back. Making laps through the first floor.

“What else do you have?” Luke sounded annoyed, but he knew it was from the pre lay-down-some-ground-rules discussion.

“I made a new cover” Jack dipped into his bag “you don’t even have to look at it. Matter of fact, I’ll just chuck it.”

Luke reached out and snagged the piece of paper out of Jack’s hand. It was the new cover. Lance, Tyler and the dogs – plus Luke with author credit.

“Please, seriously, throw it away” Jack begged “don’t even look at it. Please don’t look at it.”

“Well now I have to see it since it’s making you so upset”

“No! No you don’t! I promise… I promised. Please Luke.”

Luke looked over the new cover, studying it carefully. He had to admit, at least to himself if nobody else, he really liked it. Should he tell Jack? Admit that maybe he was right? Of course he should. If he wanted trust from Jack he had to give honesty in return.

“Jack, this is great… I love it!” he had a wide smile across his face, his admission of error shown clearly. “Maybe you’re right – maybe I should look into changing the story a little.”

Jack audibly gasped “no, Luke! Don’t! You’re probably right about switching things up now. I don’t want to be the reason your book never gets published.

“The more I think about it, the more I’m wondering if it really wouldn’t be that difficult” he sat on the sofa tapping his finger against his chin “it’s not like I have to rewrite the whole story line, I just have to switch out names and pronouns. It might actually work.”

Luke paced the room, walking from the front door to the kitchen and back again. The same path the dogs were taking. The three of them in unison.

After some brief moments “I think I might have figured something out.” Luke smiled “this is isn’t going to be easy, but easier than I thought.” He stood up and and reached out for Jack to come and hug him “your amazing. I’d never have had the nerve to do this. Hell, I’d never even thought of it.

“I’m so happy to have you in my life.” Luke whispered to Jack “Chris never would have supported me like this. Fuck, she never cared that she dragged me around the country to advance her career. You… I mean you… you thought of me immediately.” He kissed Jack gently. “You worried about me… so much – you’re making me fall in love with you. My god, Jackson Poole. I’m in love with you… in a way I’ve never felt for anyone before. In a way I never felt for Christine.” Luke nuzzled his face into Jack’s shoulder.

Luke slid his hand down into the front of Jack’s jeans. He could feel the warmth, the sexual heat, that emanated from Jack’s dick. It’s hardness begging for attention. Luke was more than willing to show it some appreciation. He ran his fingertips over the length, encouraging it to swell and thicken. Jack moaned, his eyes closed as he relaxed into the pleasure that was Luke’s fingers “oh, fuck… Luke. Don’t do that, we’ve gotta get back to the office” Jack groaned a combination satisfaction and amusement.

Luke kissed around his ear, running his tongue across it and gently nipping at the lobe, causing goosebumps to appear on Jack’s neck. Luke’s breath was warm and tempting, Jack’s dick in his hand was hard and approving. Giving it a few firm squeezes, slowly milking out a trickle of pre-cum. Luke sank to his knees “I should probably take care of this before we go back” he whispered.

Jack felt like his knees were going to buckle. “We shouldn’t… I mean, we really can’t…

Luke leaned in against Jack “are you sure?” he whispered.

“No… I’m not sure. You’ve got my head spinning” he moaned.

Luke stood and ran his tongue across Jack’s ear “I want your cock.”

Jack hissed as he sucked air in through his teeth “take it. Fuck. Take it” he thickly groaned.

Luke dipped to his knees and unbuttoned Jack’s jeans, letting them slide to the floor. He tugged on Jack’s briefs, bright yellow with a black waistband, and let those drop too, rocking back on his heals in awe as Jack’s cock sprang free.

“You have underwear that matches the Camaro?” Luke chuckled “black racing stripe and all?”

Jack reached down and ran his fingers over Luke’s torso, stroking his chest hair and giving his nipple piercings pinches and gentle tugs, Luke gasped, his breathing shifting to meek whimpers. “just in case any hot guys want to see me spread out on the hood of my car. Interested?” he answered breathlessly.

“Maybe later… I’m kinda busy right now.”

Cupping Jack’s balls in one hand he wrapped the other around the shaft, Luke lowered his head down until his mouth hovered over the tip of Jack’s prick. He closed his eyes and slowly worked his mouth over first the girth – he found it challenging opening his jaws that wide – and little by little the length. He bobbed himself over the package between Jack’s legs. His tastebuds savored the warm, saltiness of pre-cum, while his nose picked up his musky scent and dampness created from being tucked into his pants. Luke felt overcome, almost intoxicated with his senses working overtime. On his third pass swallowing the engorged cock Luke gagged… Jack too large for him to take.

“Slowly, just go slowly” Jack purred as he ran his fingers through Luke’s curls “it’s ok, you’re doing great.” Luke relaxed a little, soothed by Jack’s encouragement.

Luke continued working on the shaft… sucking, jerking and circling his tongue around the head. His mouth was wet, leaving a leaking trail of spit down Jack’s pole. He could feel him squirming, his hips rocking back and forth slowly fucking Luke’s mouth “oh my god… fuckin’, shit. Shit! Luke… your mouth. Ohhhh, suck me.” Jack moaned. Emboldened by the sounds of Jacks’s pleasure, Luke went for more. He channeled what he’d seen in the straight porn he’s watched, remembering how the women worked the men to make them cum. He looked up at Jack, their eyes locking, as Jack continued running his fingers through Luke’s hair “suck me Luke… suck my big cock.” The needing in his voice. The wanting in his eyes. Luke never felt so in control with anyone sexually.

“I’m gonna cum… fuck Luke, I’m gonna cum. Can you take me deeper? Take more Luke, take all of me.” Jack was pleading and he wasn’t about to let him down.

Luke looked up at Jack again “help me… I don’t know if I can do it” embarrassment ringing in his voice.

“Relax, love. Just relax. Relax your mouth and relax your throat. I’ll feed you slowly.” Jack whispered.

Jack moved a step back from Luke’s mouth, then slowly reproached with his hard dick in his hand.

“Start slow… little by little.” Luke took a deep breath and steadily took Jack, choking right away on the fat meat before it could approach his throat.

“You’re ok, try again” Jack cooed. Luke took another deep breath and tried again, this time the thickness didn’t feel as daunting. His throat opened a little wider, now the inches slowly passing down. “Good boy” Jack whispered as he again his rubbed his thumb around Luke’s lips. With a guy like Mike, Jack would throat fuck them now. However, Luke wasn’t Mike. He deserved patience and love.

It only took a few moments before Jack moaned “I’m gonna cum… Luke… I’m… gonna… fuck! I’m cumming! Luke I’m cumming!” Jack’s body shook violently as wave after wave as jizz blasted from him. He rested his hands loosely on the back of Luke’s head. Jack wasn’t going to force him into something he couldn’t handle “swallow baby, just swallow.” Luke gagged, unable to keep up, cum overflowing his mouth… dripping down his chin and puddling on his shirt.

Luke looked up at Jack, tears in his eyes… nose running, scrambling to catch his breath.

“I’ll do better next time” Luke lamented “I promise.”

Jack cupped his face with his hands and pulled him up for a kiss “you were perfect, absolutely perfect. You’re fine just the way you are. Now, your turn to cum too.”

Luke checked the clock and chuckled “you’ll have to give me a rain check – I’ll collect later. We’re going to be late getting back to work.” Jack rubbed his palm over Luke’s crotch, a bulge prominent in his jeans “I’m willing to risk it” he smiled.

“well, I can’t. I have too much work to do. I’m going to start outlining my next book… get some ideas organized.”

Jack grabbed the front of Luke’s shirt, licking the spot where his cum dribbled down the front “I think you might need a clean shirt” he laughed “let’s get you something more suited for work.” Jack opened a dresser drawer, fished out a clean polo shirt… this one had the animal shelter’s logo embroidered on front, and tossed it to Luke.

They hooked the leashes back on the dogs and prepared for the walk back to work. Jack reached into a drawer in the kitchen, bringing out 2 dog treats “I’m sure they’ll want a snack by the time we get back to the office.”

The stroll was brisk. Quickly paced to arrive back to the office on time. The four took the elevator to the third floor, and as the doors opened, they peered around the corners to see if anyone was watching. The office was quiet, everyone was concentrating on their own work. Their return went unnoticed.

Jack leaned in against Luke and lightly kissed him “I’ll see you tonight. Dinner at your place?”

“Deal” he winked “since I’m probably the only one with food anyway.”

Jack turned into a shaking, swooning mess. Luke could read instruction to build a Swedish bookcase and Jack would still feel compelled to listen… he had it bad for the guy.

Five o’clock came quicker than either of them realized.

Jack texted Luke an emoji of a heart. He waited, but he didn’t reply. Jack gave it a few more minutes and sent another text, this one of kiss, but again no response. He became curious and walked toward Luke’s desk. It was unoccupied, but his messenger bag – and Olive – sat there. The office was quiet for the most part, but voices could be heard around the corner having a discussion… one of those voices was Luke’s. He was talking to Bob about his book. A shockwave of panic ran down Jack’s spine. Did something happen? Did Bob find out about the revised cover? Did he know they wanted to swap the genders? Jack backed away, returning to his own desk… and waited.

It was about an hour when Luke came over with Olive, meeting Jack at his desk. He wasn’t going to ask what was going on… it wasn’t his place. He was hoping Luke would be willing to share.

They took the elevator to the ground floor and began their walk home.

“So, still on for dinner at my place.”

Jack looked at him with a wide smile on his face. “I’d love that… should I be planning on picking up a toothbrush for tomorrow morning?”

Luke looked at him, a smirk slightly lifting the side of his mouth. “Quite presumptuous, Mr. Poole.”

The weather was still warm, so the walk home was pleasurable. “How about a quick stop at the dog park for a run through the fountains?” Jack asked “I bet the dogs would appreciate it. Maybe pick up some ice cream for them from the cafe?” Luke gave him a warm smile. He liked the way Jack not only doted on him, but Theo and Olive as well. He’d never felt so loved… his prior relationships – especially with Christine – had always seemed so one way. He’d give everything and was happy to accept the crumbs thrown to him. But now, with Jack, they weren’t crumbs… just full course meals for him to devour.

“Yeah, that sounds great” he chuckled, a shy smile shone across his face.

Sitting on a bench while they watched the dogs play, Luke took Jack’s hand and interwove their fingers. He needed to touch the man.

“I had a conversation with Bob right before we left” Luke said casually “that’s why I was late meeting up to leave.”

Jack closed his eyes.

“I told Bob I want to redo the book. Puppy Love will be two teen boys who fall in love.”

Jack turned quickly to look at Luke… his bright blue eyes wide and shocked.

“Wh.. what? How? What about the deadlines? And Bob? Don’t let my suggestion to change the book put you in jeopardy!”

Luke squeezed Jack’s hand, savoring another meal from him “Bob agrees with you… me… us. He thinks it’s a unique twist on the typical teen romance story. A story that’s long overdue.”

Jack continued staring at Luke, his jaw slack and mouth agape.

“So? Say something!” Luke laughed “You’re beginning to freak me out.”

“Oh my god, Luke, this is amazing! You’re amazing!”

“This is all you, and Bob knew it. I never would have had the nerve to ask for this. Fuck, I wouldn’t have even thought of writing it this way. I owe Luke Larson’s first book at Dove to you.”

“Wait… what? Who’s book?” Jack’s eyes went back to wide again.

“Yep. It’s going to be published under my name” Luke’s eyes began misting over “Bob didn’t see any reason this had to be written by a female author anymore. He thought a male author was more logical.”

Jack threw his arms around Luke’s neck and tightly hugged him. “I’m so proud of you” he whispered as he kissed his neck.

Luke pulled back, sitting flat against the bench “I have one week to do a rewrite. But, I’ve basically already outlined the changes, so now it’s just a matter of getting it through revision. This is going to happen Jack! It’s going to happen!”

Standing in kitchen, Luke looked through his fridge for dinner ideas.

“I don’t think I can even eat” Jack said. A sound of disbelief still in his voice.

Luke laughed “I know. My stomach is still doing backflips. Maybe we’ll just skip dinner tonight.”

“Good idea. Drinks though, we need drinks.”

Luke opened a bottle or wine and poured each of them a glass. “Toast” he exclaimed “to success.”

“To success” Luke echoed.

They sat there rerunning the day’s events. Luke’s meeting. Bob’s acknowledgment. Everything felt surreal.

“Well, at least this comes with more than my name on a book cover.”

Jack knew it also came with a monetary bonus and usually an extension of the author’s contract. Luke was already locked in for another 2 books, but now… who knows. Something like this was unheard of, an author taking their book back weeks before publication and doing an almost complete rewrite. This was a game changer.

“This bonus couldn’t have come at a better time” Luke sighed “my lease expires in a few months and I know my rent will go up. This’ll cover me for another year, I won’t have to look for a new place.”

Jack raised his glass “here’s to you being able to stay put.”

Sitting on the back deck, into their second bottle of wine, Jack and Luke watched the dogs run in the yard. The sun had set and the twinkle lights strung above their heads gave off a warm glow.

“You know” Luke whispered, even thought there wasn’t anyone nearby to hear “I have an extra toothbrush if you’d like one.”

Jack flashed Luke a feigned look of shock “Mr Larson, now who’s be presumptuous.”

Luke laughed, his turn now to mock “Well, if you’re not interested…”

“Such a smart ass” he smiled “what am I going to do with you?”

Luke pulled Jack in for a deep kiss… tongues dancing inside each other’s mouths “I have so many things in mind for us to do.”

Returning to the kitchen, the guys got the dogs settled for the evening. After all the time Olive had spent sleeping with Luke – like he was a security blanket – she quickly adapted to being downstairs with Theo. Another perk of the shy guy being near the shy dog.

Upstairs, Luke nervously made the bed while Jack was in the shower. Yeah, it was going to be rumpled soon – at least he hoped so – but he wanted everything to be perfect. He turned off the lights and lit a few of the candles Chris left behind when she took off. He was never a romantic – one of the things his ex dinged him for when she called him childish – but with Jack, romance came easy. His palms were sweating so he wiped them off on his jeans… nerves were taking over and he started to doubt himself. Starting to doubt if Jack would find this as magical as he hoped. Just breath he told himself. This is Jack.

Jack finished his shower and padded into the bedroom with just a towel wrapped around his waist, his broad shoulders glistening, blonde hair wet and disheveled.

“Wow” he said as he looked around the room “I don’t know what to say. This is beautiful. Did you do this for me?” Jack’s cheeks burned red. Much like Luke’s relationship with Christine, this is something Mike would never have done for him. Mike wasn’t that considerate, not even in the beginning when things were good.

“It’s only some candles” Luke said humbly “I thought you might like it. Make things a little romantic. Th… that’s if you wa… want romantic.” Luke was trembling, beating himself up inside his head. What had he done? He just assumed things would progress. Sure, they had been joking about it – but that’s a far cry from expecting it. “I can blow them out if this makes you uncomfortable.

Jack leaned in and pushed his index finger against Luke’s lips, basically shushing him “stop… this is perfect. I love it. Plus, understand it or not. Fast or not. I love you. I love you Luke Larson.”

Tears streamed down Luke’s cheeks “You love me? I never really thought you were ready. The way Mike did a number on you, I thought it would be years before you could convince yourself to trust again.”

It was Jack’s turn to cry “honestly, I never thought I’d love again either. Then I met you. You make loving so easy.” Luke grabbed Jack’s hand and led him to the bed, eagerly kissing each other until they both climbed on the bed.

“I want you to make love to me” Jack whispered “I want you to fuck me. I want you inside of me so bad.”

Luke’s face turned serious, trying to collect his thoughts on what to say or do next “you know I’ve never been with a guy before, right? H… how does it work. I.. I mean I ‘know’ how it ‘works’, it’s just… oh fuck. I’m so nervous.”

Jack embraced Luke, slowly lowering him down onto the comforter… gently resting him on his back. He ran his fingers through Luke’s mop of curls, seizing his gaze on his incredible green eyes. Jack leaned down and placed a deep kiss on Luke’s lips, smothering him with the heat of both their breaths combined.

“Don’t be nervous. We’ll go through this together… that is if you’re ready? We don’t have to do this tonight. There’ll be other nights… other times. I don’t want you to feel rushed” Jack kissed him.

“Hey, what did we agree on? I set the timeline. I say when. Well, when is now. I didn’t know how to approach you, but I’ve known I wanted you for a while now” he pressed his forehead against Jack’s “I agree we’re moving fast, but guess what, I’m happy with fast.”

Jack threw off the towel and Luke quickly shed his clothes. Facing one another, Jack pulled Luke close, their bodies touching. A palpable heat hung in the air between them. Jack placed his hand behind Luke’s head and gently guided his mouth towards his, parting his lips for Luke’s tongue to dock there. The taste of him was like sweet mixed with spicy. Like strawberries and jalapeños. A taste that lingered on his tongue… he loved it and he wanted more.

“Holy shit” Luke gasped “you’re getting me so fucking hard. My skin feels like it’s alive.”

Luke backed off. He’d wanted Jack so badly and he wasn’t ready for this to end. He was going to make his first time with a man memorable.

“I want to suck you again” Luke moaned in Jack’s mouth “please, let me suck your dick. I promise I’ll try harder.”

“Wait… just hang on a second” Jack stared into Luke’s eyes “you don’t have anything to ‘try harder’ for.”

Luke slid down the bed, his mouth now in line with the slab of meat Jack was packing “look, I’m fine. I want to learn to do this” his eyes were warm and welcoming “I want to be with you.”

Jack released a timid laugh “and practice makes perfect.”

“Take your time, I’ll guide you. Do only what you can, Ok? Don’t force it.” Jack reclined as Luke took him in his mouth. He briefly hesitated, Jack wondered if he was having second thoughts. Luke inhaled a deep breath through his nose and quickly dropped his mouth down the shaft and instantly gagged. He pulled off, his eyes watering and his face bright red.

Jack chuckled. He lifted Luke’s mouth up to meet his and kissed him deeply. Heated. Passionately. “I told you to go slow. You’re a rookie” Jack smiled and ran his fingers through his curls again. Luke smirked and shot Jack the middle finger “fuck you.” Jack literally laughed out loud “that’s the goal. Ready to try again?”

“Yeah, I really want to do this” Luke sounded frustrated.

Jack kissed Luke again, smiling into his mouth “you’ll get there… we’ll get there. Relax and enjoy yourself.”

Luke lowered his head back into Jack’s lap, nuzzling his nose into the blonde’s pubes “you smell wonderful” he sighed. “You smell like my soap.” It was true. Jack gave off a woodsy scent of cyprus and sandlewood.

“Alright… I’m ready to try again.” Luke said solidly. Enthusiastically.

He tilted his head, looking up to meet Jack’s eyes. His mind believed he could do this. His heartbeat was fast with anticipation.

Luke positioned himself over the massive, swollen dick again, leaning down to take just the tip in his mouth. Jack moaned with a sound of satisfaction. Luke worked up and down, getting used to the girth. Slowly, he inched his way down taking more with each pass. The deeper he sucked, the more – and louder – Jack moaned. “Oh my god, suck me. Dammit Luke, you’re doing so well. Suck my cock.” Luke pulled off to take a deep breath, tears now running down his cheeks. Jack pulled Luke’s face up for another kiss “you’re so good when you take your time” He whispered.

Luke smiled. He felt satisfied with himself. He was doing what Jack wanted… making him moan with pleasure. That was the encouragement he wanted. The motivation he needed.

While Luke hungrily swallowed him, Jack couldn’t help but think back to Mike. In all their years together, Jack couldn’t recall one instance when he was put first. His wants and desires considered over Mike’s. He liked it. It felt good to be treated as prize as apposed a hurdle that had to be cleared. Holy shit… this was a feeling he could get used to.

Luke had gotten Jack hard. Not just basic hard, but a hot, throbbing, precum leaking kind of hard. The kind of hard he’d normally hurriedly look to fill an ass with, but that wasn’t on the menu for tonight. Jack was serving up his ass for his boyfriend. He thought about that for a few seconds. Boyfriend. It’d been a while since he could use that word and think positive thoughts. But now, he loved the thought of the word – my boyfriend Luke.

Jack jerked Luke to full erection. It didn’t really take much, Luke was aroused just thinking of Jack touching him. Jack wanting him the way nobody has for a long time. Luke reached down and swatted Jack’s hand away “stop, you’re going to make me cum” Luke chuckled “I have something else I need to do first.”

“Sorry… sorry” Jack grinned back “my mistake Mr. Larson.”

Reaching into his bedside table, Luke retrieved a pump bottle of lube “how much of this do I… sorry… you need? You know I’m kinda big too” he thoughtfully asked.

“Couple of pumps for me… work it into my hole… and a couple to coat your prick” Jack instructed. Luke slicked himself up and used one finger, slowly working up to two… then three, to deeply wet and widen Jack’s hole. His ass squirming under Luke’s pressure, bucking with pleasure and he was worked over.

“Ok, now gently work your way in” Jack breathed “it’s been a while for me.”

Luke nodded “let me know if I hurt you alright. I don’t want to hurt you.”

“I’ll be fine. Enjoy me and enjoy yourself” Jack smiled as Luke slowly began filling him. Jack inhaled and quickly exhaled as Luke slid in and gently pulled out. They both repeated their movements until Luke was almost fully deep. “That’s it baby, fuck me. I can feel you moving inside me” Jack was breathless “I’m loving your cock fucking me. Do me harder. I’ll be fine, just fuck me harder.”

Luke slammed himself into Jack, their bodies smacking with each thrust. Luke threw his head back, keeping a grasp on Jack’s hips. “Now, roll me over onto my back” Jack told Luke “I wanna see your face when we cum.” Jack wrapped his arms around Luke’s body while Luke did the same, each moving in unison until Luke was on his back and Jack repositioning himself to ride him.

Laying flat on his back, his cock still rocket hard, Luke grasped Jack’s waist as he lifted himself off and on the pole between Luke’s thighs. Luke gripped Jack’s hard massiveness and stroked him, slowly at first, but going faster as Luke firmly dicked him.

“I’m ready to cum” Jack pleaded to Luke “where do you want it?” Luke, in a mix of bliss and demand “on my face… aim for my face.” Jack closed his eyes, grit his teeth, and released. He couldn’t tell where his load went or what he hit. “I’m there… I’m there!” Luke yelled “I’m gonna cum too! Oh my god I’m gonna cum” Jack leaned down to face Luke, pleading with him “stay inside me, I want you to cum in me. Cum in me Luke… fill me with your load.” Luke lifted his hips, shoving himself deeper into Jack’s ass. A few more thrusts was all it took for him to blow “I feel you! I can feel you filling me!” Luke sat back down on Jack’s cock again, using his cum to lube his ass. A pool of his jizz leaking from Jack’s hole and puddling underneath him. He ran his finger through his own funk and brought it to his mouth for a taste, something he’d never done before. The flavor was unique, not something he’d beg for, but not something he’d reject either. He took another scoop and fed it to Jack, who quickly licked Luke’s digits clean “oh fuck Luke, you taste so good.”

Luke smiled “Apparently you have good taste in men.”

The book was finished in time for release. No better place for a launch party and celebration came to mind other than Second Chance Sanctuary. Everyone important to the project came to wish Luke the best. He was nervous. Sure, he’d written other books7, but this one had a special meaning… a special feeling. This was the book he wrote with Jack.

The front cover photo featuring Olive and Theo looked better than any mock up Jack could have created.

“I’m glad to see everyone could make it”, Jack leaned in for a kiss.

Luke turned in a circle scoping out the space. Sure, it wasn’t the most conventional or elegant space for a party, but this was ‘his’ party – thrown by him and Jack – not Dove. While ‘Puppy Love’ meant everything to the guys, for Dove, it was just another YA romance novel.

Reve was there, sipping champagne and talking cozy with Rita… the shelter’s leader of volunteers. Jack and Luke took notice at almost the same time. Jack nudged Luke in his ribs “‘Puppy Love part two?” and laughed.

Bob was there, along with many other co-workers from publishing. While everyone was excited for Luke, many were excited by what he had done… pulling his work when it was already approved to rewrite the story he wanted to tell. A new story Dove had never published before, but because of Luke and Jack, a genre they we’re more than interested in pursuing.

Jack pulled Luke aside, both quietly slipping out the back door – assaulted by the warm, still air – into an alley.

“I’ve told you before how proud I am of you, but I’m going to tell you again. I’m so proud of you… of everything you’ve done.”

Luke wrapped his arms around Jack’s neck, pulling him in for a kiss, his face going bright red. He’d never been treated with the kindness Jack gave him “I couldn’t have done this without my Three Musketeers. Olive, Theo,… and you. Especially you Jack. We make a good team.”

Jack leaned into Luke and whispered in his ear “what, um… what do you… ummm… think about letting your lease expire and moving in with me?”

Luke’s jaw dropped and his eyes widened “Seriously? You want to.. to… live with me? We really barely know each other.”

“Y..y… yeah. I… I guess your’e right” Jack stammered as he backed away from Luke “It’s probably a bad idea. I shouldn’t have brought it up. Forget it.”

“Wait!, Wait!” Luke pulled Jack back to him, wrapping his arms around his waist “I didn’t say no! I mean, I just want you to be sure, that’s all. I’m all for trying it… and if it doesn’t work… I move out and get another place. Seriously Jack. If you really want me there, I’m all in.”

Jack moved his face towards Luke, rubbing his nose against his “I want you Mr. Luke Larson. I’m my house, in my bed – and in my life.”

“Think we should check with Theo and Olive? See what they think” Luke smiled into Jack’s cheek. It was then they realized the dogs were still in the shelter… at the party… by themselves. They hurried back inside to find Olive working the room, Bumping her head against any hand, looking to be petted. Meanwhile Theo sat quietly by the intake desk, happily watching the scenery play out. It was like the two little personalities switched. Olive wanted the attention while Theo was content to just be alone.

Luke and Jack looked on, each draping an arm around the other’s back. Luke laughed “I guess they’ll be good with it.”

The End
